Sublingual semaglutide is a compounded product. No approved version exists. Here is what it costs.
Semaglutide is approved as a weekly injection and as a daily swallowed tablet. Drops and dissolving tablets under the tongue are a pharmacy’s own preparation. Price them against the forms they replace.

Why a month of drops needs more milligrams
Semaglutide is a peptide. Swallowed, most of it never reaches the blood.
The approved tablet carries an absorption enhancer, salcaprozate sodium (SNAC)[1]. Even with it, absolute bioavailability is about 1% to 2%[1]. An injection is about 89%[1].
That is why the tablet doses are larger. The label sets the tablet maintenance dose at 25 mg a day[1]. For the injection, one label maintenance dose is 2.4 mg a week[1]. A month of drops should be compared by milligrams, not by bottles.
Absorption from the approved tablet happens in the stomach, next to the tablet itself[2]. It requires SNAC[2]. Under the tongue is a different route, and the tablet data do not carry over to it.
What the label says about dissolving it
The approved tablet has strict rules[1]. Swallow it whole. Do not split, crush, chew or dissolve it. Take it on an empty stomach with up to 4 ounces of water. Wait at least 30 minutes before food or other medicines.
The label ties those rules to how the tablet is absorbed[1]. A compounded drop has no label that sets its own.
What the research shows
No human trial of sublingual semaglutide has been published. Two animal studies have been.
A 2026 study dosed rats once, by three routes[3]. At 1 mg/kg, sublingual beat the swallowed tablet on exposure[3]. The AUC was 82.53 against 15.08 ng·h/mL[3]. Relative bioavailability was still under 0.4% for sublingual doses[3]. The authors work for a supplier to compounding pharmacies.
A second 2026 study split 40 minipigs into groups[4]. One group got sublingual films three times a week for 8 weeks[4]. Its weight gain was 24.9% lower than placebo over 9 weeks[4]. The pigs were young, non-diabetic and not obese[4].
A 2026 review counted 17 single-ingredient compounded GLP-1 products that differ from the approved drugs. 82% were sublingual[5]. Whether they beat the approved tablets had not been determined, the authors wrote[5].
