The Wegovy pill is a semaglutide tablet taken once a day. Without insurance it costs $149 a bottle at the first dose. It rises to $299 at the 25 mg maintenance dose.[1]
FDA approved the tablets on December 22, 2025[4]. They are approved for weight reduction[4]. They are also approved to cut cardiovascular risk in adults with heart disease and obesity or overweight[4]. The injection is priced in the Wegovy cost guide.
The price climbs with the dose
The label steps the dose every 30 days. It starts at 1.5 mg and reaches 25 mg on day 91[3]. Each step has its own price[1].

So the first twelve bottles cost $3,338. That is three escalation bottles, then nine at $299. Twelve bottles cover 360 days.

At maintenance, the tablet runs $76 a month below the pen. The gap comes from two things. The bottle is cheaper, and it lasts 30 days, not 28.
One rule changes the math. If the 25 mg tablet is not tolerated, the label suggests the 1.7 mg pen instead[3]. That pen is priced at the standard pen rate[1].
How the tablet is taken
The label says the tablet is taken in the morning on an empty stomach[3]. It allows up to 4 ounces of water with it[3]. Food, drink and other pills wait at least 30 minutes[3]. The label allows one tablet a day[3].
That routine is a cost of its own. Under the label, a missed tablet is skipped, not made up[3].
With insurance
The maker’s savings card covers the tablet too, for commercially insured patients[2]. Government beneficiaries are excluded[2]. The savings card guide sets out the cap. Medicare has a separate route, in does Medicare cover Wegovy.
Compounded oral semaglutide is priced separately
