A breast lift after weight loss starts at the surgeon's fee. ASPS put that fee at $6,816 on average in 2023. Anesthesia and the operating room come on top.
The question comes up with weight loss on semaglutide or tirzepatide. ASPS notes that significant weight loss can reduce breast volume [4]. The skin envelope does not necessarily shrink at the same rate [4].
Searchers call the result "Ozempic breasts." Surgeons call the fix a mastopexy. The monthly medicine is priced in compounded semaglutide cost.
Demand after GLP-1 weight loss
ASPS counted 156,131 breast lifts in 2025, up 8 percent [1]. It ranked fourth among cosmetic operations [1].
ASPS says some patients restored breast position and shape with a lift after significant weight loss [1].
Its surgeon survey asked about GLP-1-related body consultations in 2025. Breast surgery, lifts and implants together, came up for 87 percent of surgeons [1]. It ranked second, behind the tummy tuck [1].
The surgeon's fee
The 2023 ASPS average for a breast lift was $6,816 [2]. In 2022 it was $5,817 [2]. That is a rise of about 17 percent, by our arithmetic.
ASPS stopped printing single averages for 2024. Its 2024 range for a breast lift is $6,500 to $11,000 [3].

A lift with an implant costs more
Lost volume is part of the complaint for many people. Some pair a lift with an implant.
ASPS publishes no fee for the combined operation. It lists a 2023 average of $4,875 for implant augmentation alone [2].
Added to the lift, the two separate averages come to $11,691, by our arithmetic. That is not a quote for a combined operation. Ask the surgeon for one.
Augmentation with fat grafting only averaged $5,719 in 2023 [2]. Its 2024 range is $5,500 to $9,500 [3].
What the $6,816 leaves out
ASPS says the breast lift average does not include anesthesia, operating room facilities or other related expenses [4].
Its cost page lists what else can be billed [4]:
- anesthesia fees
- hospital or surgical facility costs
- medical tests
- post-surgery garments
- prescriptions for medication
ASPS adds that the surgeon's fee depends on experience, the procedure and the office's location [4]. Get each line in writing.
Insurance: the lift is cash-pay
ASPS says most health insurance plans do not cover breast lift surgery or its complications [4].
Aetna's cosmetic surgery policy lists breast lift (mastopexy) as cosmetic [5].
A Medicare contractor policy lists mammapexy as not covered unless it relates to reconstruction after a medically necessary mastectomy [6].
Tax rules follow the same line. The IRS says you generally can't count cosmetic surgery as a medical expense [7].
Its exception covers a deformity from a congenital abnormality, an injury or a disfiguring disease [7]. The IRS example is breast reconstruction after cancer surgery [7]. How health accounts use that rule is in can you use an HSA for peptides.
Weight-loss sagging is not on that list. Plan on paying cash, and ask about financing.
