What one pen holds
The 1 mg pen holds 4 weekly doses[2]. So does the 2 mg pen[2]. Each carton includes 4 needles[2].
The starting pen differs. It holds 2 mg in 3 mL[2]. That is 4 doses of 0.25 mg and 2 of 0.5 mg, or 4 of 0.5 mg[2]. Its carton has 6 needles[2].
The label starts at 0.25 mg weekly for 4 weeks, then 0.5 mg[2]. Maintenance is 0.5, 1 or 2 mg weekly[2]. The dose you stay on sets the price you pay.
The Ozempic pill

The label sells each strength in bottles of 30[3]. It also says Ozempic tablets and Rybelsus, an older semaglutide tablet, are not substitutable mg for mg[3]. Price the product on the prescription.
With insurance
With commercial coverage for Ozempic, you may pay as little as $25 a month[1]. The card saves at most $100 a month[1]. It runs for up to 48 months[1].
Government beneficiaries are excluded[1]. Medicare Part D patients cannot use the $25 offer[1]. They may use self-pay[1].

Ozempic or Wegovy: same drug, different label
The label approves Ozempic for blood sugar in type 2 diabetes[2]. It also covers heart and kidney risk in that group[2]. Weight loss is not on it.
