02Five charges that sit outside the headline

• –Consult. Some sellers charge a one-time visit fee. Some fold it into the first order. Ask which.
• –Labs. A prescriber may want bloodwork first. Ask whether the draw and the panel are included.
• –Membership. A monthly or annual fee billed beside the medication. It is a separate line on your card.
• –Shipping and supplies. Syringes, alcohol pads and cold packs may be included or billed per order.
• –Prepay term. A three-month price divided by three is not a monthly price. You pay the whole term up front.

Add every line before you compare. For example, a plan listed at $119 with a $49 monthly membership costs $168 a month. A plan listed at $159 with no membership costs less.

03Why two quotes for the same peptide differ

Form is the first reason. Sermorelin is sold in several forms: injection, sublingual troche, oral preparation and nasal spray. Each is a different product with its own price.

Unit is the second reason. A monthly plan and a single vial are not the same purchase. A vial price stays a vial price here. It becomes a monthly figure only if the seller states how long a vial lasts.

Quantity is the third. Two vials at one price can hold different amounts. Where a seller states the milligrams, divide. The cost per milligram is the only figure that compares across vial sizes.

05What you are paying for

Sermorelin is a 29-amino-acid analog of growth hormone-releasing hormone. It prompts the pituitary to release growth hormone^[1].

It was once an approved drug. GEREF was approved in 1997 to treat children with idiopathic growth hormone deficiency^[2]. It was later withdrawn from sale. In 2013 the FDA determined the withdrawal was not for reasons of safety or effectiveness^[2].

That history is why pharmacies may compound it. A bulk substance that is a component of an FDA-approved drug is eligible for compounding under section 503A^[3]. Compounded sermorelin itself is not FDA-approved^[4].

The adult evidence is small. One trial gave 11 healthy men aged 64 to 76 a nightly 2 mg injection for six weeks^[5]. Nighttime growth hormone release rose. IGF-1 did not change, and neither did body composition^[5]. An opinion piece argues for wider adult use; it reports no new trial^[6].

The pediatric data name the common side effects: brief facial flushing and pain at the injection site^[1].

06The one question to ask

Ask the seller one thing before you pay. "What will I be billed in month two, including every fee?" If the answer needs an intake first, finish the intake before you commit to a term.
